Photographing SWFL Outdoors…
… can be successfully pursued 365 days per year. With an array of beaches, Gulf of Mexico scenes, the Ten Thousand Islands plus our award winning state and national parks the shutterbug need just head out the door. Tips for great pictures-

Scenes like this Everglades sunset await the outdoor photographer.
Take advantage of great light- living near the coast and on relatively flat terrain is a true blessing as we’re treated to an explosive palette of light with each sunrise and sunset. Catch this time of day and you’re in position for great landscape photos and silhouettes.
Near and far- for those toting a digital SLR, a selection of lenses including a zoom for birds and distant subjects along with a wide angle lens for artistic compositions and panoramas has you locked and loaded for a great day afield.
Get it right- always carry your owners manual as a reference for any manual settings you may want to choose. If using your big lens, motion blur is always a risk so tote that tripod or beanbag. Same for shooting silhouettes under gorgeous low light situations. Learn how to adjust your ISO and how to operate in aperture and shutter priority mode. Whenever I’m afield with “students” the aforementioned is the foundation of our approach.
Reader comments and questions help keep our topics interesting so don’t be shy and… good luck out there this weekend…
