3 Cures For The Same Old Photos-
Starting with yours truly I think every photographer eventually laments that they’re “tired of shooting the same thing over and over.” Ever had that thought? Here are three sure fire steps to spice up the photos you’ll take:

Electric Guitar Photo by Gordon Campbell www.swfloutdoorphotography.com.
1- You’ve got to have your camera. With you. If you’re a nature photographer getting bored of sleepy pelicans or a landscape guy tired of the same green trees, then you better be packin’ when you head for the city. DSLR kit too bulky? Take a tiny Point & Shoot.
2- It’s elementary but just sitting down with your camera and checking over the menu and flipping through your manual is an easy process that will surely alert you to new capabilities and opportunities next time out. Do you know how to bracket? Ever tried panning? (There’s 2 freebies to try!). There’s tons of good stuff in there- will you look?
3- Put it together. You and your camera are in a new place armed with new technical expertise. Form & light still matter. Good composition is still good composition. But this time its different- street scenes, candids, blurs and more could be a whole new outlet for your creativity. Of course if you’ve been an urban photographer just let loose in the Everglades the process would still be the same as planned only the subjects and your take on them would be different.
So if your photography has become a bore or a chore take your camera new places, promise to learn at least a couple new settings and techniques and put it all together on a few new subjects. The novelty will be invigorating and when you get home those same “old subjects” may take on a new life of their own. What do you think?… Gordon.
